cross-breeds which rely on two distinct sources of energy to power a vehicle.
In most cases, these are internal combustion and electricity. Internal combustion
engine stores its energy in fuel carried on board. Electric motors store their
energy in batteries which are also carried on board. These energy stores are called
upon, either separately or in unison, to drive the vehicle. Everyone knows the evils
of petroleum-based fuels. But batteries also have a considerable amount of environmental
baggage and are likely to fall from favour as soon as the green generation catches on. YK - May 8, 09
